We’re Up and Running!
We’ve been in school for two weeks! Let’s get a conversation started between students, parents, and teachers. That’s the way we build a community of learners.
In our first post, I’d like to list the way students responded to the prompt, “I want to be in a classroom where…” We did this on the first day of school.
5A3 students want to be in a classroom where:
- We do lots of reading and writing
- We play lots of math games
- Everyone is friends with everyone else (no exclusive groups)
- People are happy and positive
- Teachers push students to learn but still give students freedom
- Students learn but have fun at the same time
- Students stand up for one another
- Students make the teacher proud
- Desks that are brown and a teacher desk covered in flowers and a beautiful lamp
I can say that the teacher is proud (the teacher is writing this!). Our year is off to a great start. I’d like to hear from you! Please comment on the questions below. Remember that comments should be specific and constructive.
Do these classroom expectations seem reasonable? Should we change or alter any of them?
Are we following them?

I think most of them seem reasonable, but honestly, the only odd one is the last one, it seems kind of silly ’cause the class room enviorment is: “Desks that are brown and a teacher desk covered in flowers and a beautiful lamp” I was really confused. Otherwise the rest of them seem highly reasonable
I think they are all good except for the last one ( Desks that are brown and a teacher desk covered in flowers and a beautiful lamp)
yeah I didn’t really think that was actually to be put up there Alex.A
I think that we do not have to change any of them except the last one because It is a little silly and her desk is already nice. Also we are following
most of the rules.
I think we should delete the “brown desks & flowers” comment.
I believe that those goals are reasonable but I’m not sure about the last one.
I’m exited for a great blogging year.

I think we’re doing good on being happy and positive and learning and having fun at the same time. Also,we are standing up for one another. But the last one(The one with brown desks and the teacher’s desk is covered with flowers and a lamp)was a little bit silly.
I think that our class are really doing the things that we have said.An example is the peer helper votes there was a five people tie nobody voted for one person. That shows that our class is kind and accepting.
I agree that teacher should push students but still have freedom and the last one is a bit silly.
I hope we have a good year together and we haven’t been bullying anyone so far…
I think our classroom is really good about listening to the teacher and following directions. I think we are also doing well at communicating with others! (I agree with Jasmine by thinking the comment with brown desks and a lamp was a bit silly.)
I think this blog will be something we can do this in future. I guess this can be awesome and we could really get to know everyone in the class!1
The classroom expectations seem reasonable. We shouldn’t change any of them. We sometimes do not follow them because we don’t listen to the teacher but we still do well! ☺
I don’t think we need to change any of them except the last one because its silly. I also think we’re doing all the things that everyone said that we wanted a classroom where…
The last one is not reasonable. But I think that our class are really doing the things that we have said.
Our class needs to improve on our communication skills when we work in groups.
Everyone I think is working together and I like it.
I also love this community.
I think that the classroom expectations are reasonable. They are easy to understand and easy to follow.
I don’t like the brown desks and flowers…But the rest is okay
I don’t get the last one and I wonder who wrote that last one. We are following the 3rd one because no one is bullying.
We are doing a good job on supporting each other and helping each other.
I like it how we’ve all learn and have fun at the same time in the classroom.
And I like how good our community is in the class.
I wrote the last one by accident because when Mrs Abercrombie said how would you want the classroom I thought that we were supposed to describe how the class to look.
That’s okay, Liberty. I think that the classroom could be a bit more “homey.” I think it’s always worth thinking about our physical environment too. Thanks for the suggestion.
I think if you can all remember these things throughout the year and can have respect for your teachers and classmates that you’ll accomplish some amazing things! It’s all about positive attitudes and cooperation! Well done 5A3 and keep working hard!!!
